The mortality rate in this year's March-May period in Spain was 55% higher than usual between March 10th and May 10th of this year.
So said Wednesday the senior official of the Ministry of Health for Coronavirus in Spain.
This 55% represents more than 43,000 deaths than expected. This mortality was concentrated on people 75 years of age or older, making up 35,000. However, only 27,18 of those additional deaths are linked to Coddy-19. A significant portion of the deaths cannot be directly linked to COVID-19”, Fernando Simon said.
