The planet measures 1,17 times greater than the Earth and is located in the habitable area of Proxima Centaur, which has an orbit 11 - day cycle.
Proxima b was first discovered in 2016 by HARPS, the planet seeker designed by the ESO, but proven by another device called E SPESSSO has three times the accuracy.
New tests confirmed that the distant world receives almost the same energy from its star as the Earth from the sun.
This means that water on this planet may be liquid and may be suitable for life.
