Russian Ambassador to Serbia Aleksandar Botsan Kharcenko has said they can become part of the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, only if Serbian leaders ask for it.
For Russia, the exchange of territories and other ideas “can only be assessed by Pristina and Belgrade”, as the definition solution of the Kosovo issue must be confirmed in the UN KS through the adoption of a new resolution that would replace Resolution 1244, Russia's Ambassador to Belgrade, Aleksandar Botsan Kharcenko, has said.
The authenticity of the Kosovo division idea, as well as any other idea, can only be assessed by Belgrade and Pristina. The sustainable solution to the Kosovo issue is only feasible as a result of taking into account balanced mutual interests, without imposing external schemes or timetables. The key criterion for us is for the solution to be acceptable to Serbia”, he has said in the interview for Serbia's “Politika” newspaper.
He has been asked what Russia's <x0-line red lines about Kosovo are.
Kharcenko has also said that for the incriminating of Moscow in the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, necessary before all is Belgrade's request.
In this case, the negotiation process itself must be carried out in a reasonable and acceptable framework for us on the basis of Resolution 1244, while it should have an acceptable shape and content. I have to stress that the results of diplomatic activities, so far, are not so obvious. On the contrary, there is now only more chaos in Kosovo”, he has said.
He has also said that the final solution to the Kosovo issue requires lasting UN Security Council attention, which he has praised as preconditions.
“The defined resolution of the Kosovo issue must be confirmed in the UN Security Council, through the adoption of a new resolution that would replace Resolution 1244”, he has said.
