Kosovo President Hashim Thaci has reacted after news that the Health Ministry has violated the Constitution on two occasions.
He writes:
Even though it is an pandemic time, constitutional and legal order are indisposed. Under no circumstances, no one can violate the Constitution of Kosovo, violating it and flagrantly violating the fundamental rights and freedoms of our citizens. The dual violation of the Constitution by the incumbent government is a tremendous concern and is a dangerous precedent for Kosovo institutions.
This irresponsible and indifferent approach to the highest judicial act diminishes the credibility of all state and democratic institutions in our country.
As president of the country, I also strongly condemn the language of threats on independent institutions, such as the Constitutional Court. Such actions are unacceptable!
Kosovo's government, political parties and all Kosovo institutions invite them to respect the Constitutional Court's decisions and not prevent its professional work.
Refusing to implement Constitutional Court decisions by the current government presents a clear tendency to overturn our constitutional order! HTH
