Through a news conference yesterday, Health Minister Arben Vitita has warned that by May 28th churches and mosques will reopen and the time limit of citizens' movement will be lifted, but the opening of the economy still remains delayed for June 1st.
In the second phase of the relief of anti - coronary measures, which began on May 18th, some economic activities are also allowed to begin, but with very strict rules.
Opening cafes at the “take-to-vete” and opening urban and inter-urban transport with special permits meaning filling only half the seats has made these businesses malfunction.
On the other hand, other countries in the region have also proceeded with the final stages of easing the measures, even with the opening of beaches and tourist sites, just when Kosovo still does not know what will happen to the third phase of easing measures.
As for the aspect of economic recovery, countries in the region have applied the third steps of strategic plans, Kosovo is still stuck with the unfinished Emergency Pack.
Economy expert Safet Gerjaliu in a campaign for news.net has indicated that the countries of the region are many steps ahead of Kosovo.
He says countries in the region have fled 2 or 3 steps before Kosovo, and that is bad news for the country's economy, saying how fast the economy should open and resume economic breathing.
It is true that the countries of the region have taken many steps forward to support the private sector and economic development, and more interesting is the fact that they have preceded this with the opening of the gradual economy. Kosovo is lagging in every aspect in the pace of recovery, while countries in the region have made the third and fourth step in support of citizens, the private sector and the economy, and Kosovo is still in the first step of the emergency package, and when further is the fact that the economy is closed further and the decision needs to be revised and the faster the economy and the beginning of economic breathing in Kosovo is real.”, Gerjaliu told news.
Furthermore, he says that Kosovo after overcoming pandemic is found in a dangerous phase of economic and social pandemic, but politicians need to understand this and help the private sector.
“
Gerxhaliu said further that Kosovo will need much more time for economic recovery and return to normal conditions.
He says that if the end of the 2021 is the time when countries in the region will be watching the consequences of the choreography, then Kosovo will need one more year.
And if we are to think of the consequences from the coronary, the opening of the economy as quickly as the countries of the region, we need to depoliticise the coronary and reopen the economy. We are still not in the last phase and we have no exit strategies and no inflammatory package for private sector support, and it will be very challenging, if you continue with this neglect in the face of the consequences against Coronavirus, if countries in the region need the end of 2021 then Kosovo will need another year.”, Gerjaliu said.
The third phase of easing measures in Kosovo included the opening of gastronomia, urban transport and infrastructure and other economic activities, but it remains to be seen what will happen.
On the other hand, the head of the Kosovo Economic Ode, Berat Rukiqi today, has demanded that cafes open on May 18th, when the opening of religious objects and the removal of the movement's restrictions are planned.
Gastronomers have claimed that damage from pandemics are irreparable for them, and on the other hand, urban and trans-urban carriers have refused to start working with half the travelers.
It remains to be seen what the government's decision in this regard will be, but according to what is currently known, the economy will remain paralyzed by 1 June.
