The scientist in an interview for Gazeta Express said Borelli's position is dangerous and harmful. Von-Cramon said the idea of exchange of territories would have impact on the destabilisation of the region.
EU foreign policy High Representative Josep Borelli in an interview three days earlier had declared it is up to Kosovo and Serbia to decide whether they want to talk about the correction of borders and that the European Union cannot tell the parties what they should agree to and what they should not.
But this statement by Spaniard Josep Borrell is considered wrong, German Violet Von-Cramon.
Eurodeput said that if for the chief of EU diplomacy, it doesn't matter what Kosovo and Serbia are hearing, but only to have agreements, then he has no interest in what is happening within the two states.
This is a very dangerous and harmful position. If Borrell says it doesn't matter what they're talking about, but just have a deal, he's indirectly saying there's no interest in what's going on within these states. But it's not okay. We want Kosovo and Serbia to become EU members, it is of utmost importance what the situation is like within the states”, Von-Cramon said.
In addition, the rapporteur for Kosovo in the EP said changes in borders and false ideas for ethnically homogenous states would destabilise the Western Balkan region.
Of course, the dialogue itself is important, but it is not the goal, it is a way to produce a result. And a result should be stability in the region, it should be developing the region and ultimately a better life for people in the region. An exchange of territories would not at all facilitate that. Change of border and false ideas for ethnically homogenous states are certainly not something anyone wants to see. This could create a lot of instability in the entire region”, she said.
Violet Von-Cramon, who has been deputy from Germany's Green Party in Bundestag since 2009 to 2013.
Asked by the newspaper Express whether Germany should play a key role in the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Europarliamentary said she hopes the German presidency of the EU Council, which will begin from July 1st 2020, will bring results in terms of dialogue.
“Yes. Germany has had an important role in the region in the past. I hope the German presidency of the EU Council can bring some results”, she said.
The German, who is now an MP in the European Parliament, said Germany has been clear on the idea of changing borders or exchanging territories.
The German has previously been clear to reject any plan that has involved the exchange of territories. I hope they will continue this way. I didn't accept any opposing stance”, Von-Cramon said.
Kosovo rapporteur also cited the fact that the CDU party and Chancellor Angela Merkel themselves have influence in the region and would influence Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, and on The LDK) as the EPPA sister party to facilitate dialogue between Kosovo-Serbia.
“We also must not forget how much influence in the region Merkel and her party, the CDU. The German government is one of the few actors who could easily influence Vuciqi, and also the LDK party of Kosovo is the sister-party of the CDU, their assistance could facilitate the dialogue between states, and also between Serbia and Kosovo, because internal tensions in the two states are very high”, the European Parliament MP said.
Von-Cramon also spoke of delayed visa liberalisation for Kosovo, she said some EU countries are blocking this process for internal reasons.
She added that every late day for visa removal endangers EU credibility in Kosovo.
Perhaps some member states are blocking it for internal reasons, but I find it hard to understand. Every day of delay endangers EU credibility in Kosovo. I have said in every channel that the EU should carry out this issue as soon as possible”, she said.
