Artiz Aduriz, an icon of Bilbao and Spanish football, has announced retirement from football.
The legendary 39-year-old footballer had wanted to finish his career after derbit Bask versus Real Sociedad in the King's Cup final, but the Coronavirus ruined all the plans.
Today, in San Mames, he held a farewell conference, where Athleticos people make the corridor of honor to honor his great career.
Thank you, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother and the whole family. They've always been with me. It's strange for me to speak in such an empty San mames, with such silence. I couldn't imagine my career would be so great. For me, this is a happy day, not a sad”, has declared Aduriz.
In his two decade-long career, Aduriz played not only for the Bask club, but he left the biggest trail there.
He also wore Waldalide fans, Mallorca and Valencias during his career, while for the National of Spain, 13 times, he scored two goals.
