French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe confirmed today that lifting the restriction will begin on Monday, May 11th, throughout the Metropolitan territory, but with strict restrictions on the most endangered regions, especially in Paris.
“Finance is cut in half according to health situations”, Philippe said during a press conference.
He stressed that in the “red departments”, including Paris, opening rules will be more restrictive: high schools (11-14) will remain closed in May, and very strict rules will be implemented in public transportation.
The government has for the first time made public a map of France on department capacity in virological tests, essential to lifting restrictions.
