While much of the world has been threatened by Coronavirus, Antarctica is considered the safest place in the world without any confirmed cases.
The region was in close danger with COVID-19 when the blasts hit the last sailing ships of the season, but the virus did not reach its frozen shores.
Although there is no local autochton population here, unless we count on penguins, whales, seals, about 5,000 people mainly scientists and researchers live on its bases.
