No blood stock yet provided

As a result of the spread of the COVID19 pandemic in Kosovo, there was an increased need for blood donation, but after a call from the National Blood Transfusion Centre, it seems the situation is better, even though Kosovo citizens still need to donate blood, since the reserve stock has not been secured.

On the other hand, the director of the National Blood Transfusion Centre (QKTGJ), Beauty Zhubi, says Kosovo citizens have responded satisfactorily to this institution's call to donate blood, but according to her, it still needs to continue with blood donations, as demand is large and reserve stock has not been secured.

She said that as a result of the spread of COVID19, their blood collection activity has been interrupted by donors on the ground, which has caused shortages and therefore blood reserve conditions has been critical.

We've had to make such an announcement since the blood supply condition has been critical. The response of donors to the corner of Kosovo is satisfying, but what's important is that there must be a continuation of blood donation, because the requirements do not have the line only today and the ones we have collected during these days to be enough for a certain time but must be donated to go on so as to have the stock and spare enough to be a patient who is in need... The donation has been abundant, but even the requirements have been abundant yet to meet those criteria must still be donated to reach the reserve stock which should be at any blood transfusion centre, yet we are on those red reserves must again be donated by voluntary blood donation to be ready, and offered help to patient”, she stressed.

Jhubi said that unlike other times when there is a shortage of negative blood types, there has been also a lack of common blood types.
