One of the four police involved in the arrest of George Floyd, a 46-year-old African-American who died after his arrest Monday in Minnesota, has been arrested and has now been charged with attempted murder of a third grade, as well as an unintentional murder.
Officer Derek Chauvin is the cop seen in a video shot by a passerby, holding his knee on the victim's neck, while George Floyd is heard complaining he can't breathe. The video goes on for over five minutes, when George Floyd is lying on the ground and Officer Derek Chauvin continues to keep control of his knee around his neck.
The town of Minnesota is involved in the riots, while authorities have called the National Guard to maintain order, following Thursday's night, which was accompanied by violent protests sparked by the death of 46-year-old George Floyd.
This case has attracted the attention of the whole country, as well as international attention, and has rekindled the debate on dealing with US colored people. The demonstrations have now spread to various American cities.
