There are about 70 Kosovo students and citizens who have remained in Great Britain since the release of COVID-19 pandemic.
Some of them say they have remained isolated in London since businesses where they work and the university they study have suspended activities as a result of measures in the fight against virus distribution in the country.
Over the past weeks, they say they have contacted the Kosovo Embassy many times in London, seeking opportunity to return to Kosovo.
Kosovo's “Embassy has compiled the list of students and other interested citizens to return to Kosovo since mid-March. So far, it is known that their numbers are conducted around 70. The problem is, from that day on, there is no information when the flight will be organised. We've been trying to contact all relevant ministries and institutions to get any information, but for now there's no indication whether/when this flight will happen”, they say of Telegrafi.
In the Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment, they say they are aware of the requirements, but that it is currently impossible to organise a London flight.
MIA's cabinet chief, Alban Zogaj, said several flights with other states are planned before flying from London is scheduled.
And we're actually going to be working in terms of London. We don't have a concrete date, because with Scandinavian countries and the United States it's set date and we'll work on it in terms of London”, Zogaj said.
He adds that they are waiting to become a full list of people coming to Kosovo from Great Britain.
And we're working intensively with all states and we're going back, and we're waiting from London, because we've expected to create a enough list and then put it as a priority. We've worked with all states depending on the urgency of the list, and London will be ranked”, he added.
Days earlier, incumbent Minister of Infrastructure and Environment Lumir Abdixhiku had announced that there are about 2 thousand citizens abroad who have voiced the call for return to Kosovo, indicating that their return will take place according to needs and cases.
According to him, several flights and land transports have been organised so far for the return of many citizens from outside Kosovo.
From the moment of presenting the first measures with COVID-19 in Kosovo, MIA had temporarily cancelled land and air transport to overcoming pandemic.
