Pristina University “hasan Pristina”, this year it will select new structures. On October 1st, the new university rector will begin working.
The councils of faculty, deans, and Senate members will also be resolved. The news has revealed in an interview for Online Economics, the Rector of this University of Marjan Dema.
This process has started before we can exit the objects. Election policy has been made, the Central Election Commission has been appointed, budget set. But because of the situation now these will be postponed. Even here we've made two preparations, two versions of Plan A, according to dates if we go back to objects like all electoral processes have been done because here the university is in the election of students, of faculty councils, of senate deans, and this year it's going to be solved as a reactor, because my mandate ends this year”
On October 1st, we will return the new reactor. If we go back there will only be a choice that they will be moved if we don't make all the preparations for the elections to be done virtualally”, Demas said of Online Economics.
He has made it known he will no longer run for the reactor.
“No I won't run”, Dema said.
In this interview he also spoke of organising online instruction. Dema has expressed that virtual instruction is very good and that student participation is higher.
The COVUD-19 pandemic has changed the real everydayity of the world in this context to the University of Pristina. UP in real time is prepared not only for this challenge but all the challenges that have been presented since this leadership came. We've made preparations to switch it from traditional to virtual learning. All instructions, manuals, reports in order to provide students with what has been offered to them in the only difference that this be done from a distance of”.
There have been challenges and we still have those challenges because of the subjects that are related to labs and practices. We're also prepared for this area that depending on the situation, we've planned the strategic plan from physical learning to virtual learning, we have all versions depending on the time we complete the lesson on subjects that we have challenges. We are satisfied with their organization, monitoring, and especially with participation. I can easily say greater participation than participation in physical objects”, he said.
According to Rector Dema, all services at the university have been offered.
Not only has the lesson been maintained, but all activities have been maintained, diploma protection is being organised, master” protection has begun, Dema said.
He has said that the UP with all capacities is committed to helping the community.
We've initially organized lectures, then created a emergency team that's already working. Our conviction is that this situation will not be solved immediately because we are preparing to function in such situations, students are doing volunteer work, we have called retired professors.”, he said.
Demas has said that this experience of online transition is a very good experience and that they will see the possibility of virtually organizing some activities in the future.
This was a good experience that opened our eyes to many alternative lessons that we were aware of but did not exercise. So it's been a really good experience. The experience we expect in the future to combine. The results in some areas are better than some we have had in this traditional teaching. Finally, we intend to make a conference to draw all lessons from this alternative teaching. This will be a great help in the future for students to give consultations on courses, diploma themes, master to be organised virtualally”, Demas told Online Economy.
Rector has indicated that if this situation continues UP is also available for the online application exam body.
We've been through this. That also depends on some preliminary conditions, the prom outcome. We'll prepare to make it at a certain time. The clock for these categories will work longer hours to respect distance and all criteria in force. I don't see any difficulties in the body of the receiving exam, the June deadline exams. Whether online or physical shape because this management is preparing to live with this 148x1> virus, Demas said.
Dema has said that the main criteria during this time have been quality preservation.
Now it depends on what it's going to be like, we're going to have a longer-term admission exam because right now we don't have security, but we're going to make the schedule longer. The opinion will be announced for details. For all of our activities we've made plans so that everything can develop. The main criteria were not to diminish quality. I don't believe that class is being monitored even more precisely than before. Then courses from specific fields will be compensated later. We have worked to be in line with the standards we have”, he said.
Even this year, the UPI plans to accept about 8,000 and 500 students.
The number of interested people has fallen worldwide, but in Kosovo as well. We accept about 8 thousand and 500 students, but it's not the competition that's been before. Students have their first choice of UP because of staff, conditions, images, staff. The number won't move, we're interested in some programs where we have a lot of graduates having a discount. In other areas there will be almost the same number”, Dema said.
He said that according to information no professor and no student was touched by Coronourius.
We don't have a professor as much as we have information. Good news that students and staff have also shown a high level of how to guard against this harmful virus that will change the world's top”, he said.
