Many states have already begun producing tests to identify COVID-19 not to create dependence on import, but health officials in Kosovo say the country currently has no conditions to produce itself.
Isme Humolli, official for emergency at the World Health Organisation in Kosovo, told Radio Free Europe, that with its capacities, Kosovo cannot be a country that can produce reactions (substance that affects conducting a reaction or analysis), as this procedure requires specific equipment, expertise, environment and infrastructure.
This implies that the World Health Organization (OBSH) claims to have supported the National Institute of Public Health, but, however, according to Ms. Humlli, the amount of reactions to come does not meet all the needs and requirements of Kosovo institutions.
Unfortunately, the Microbiology Department owns only one device and the extradition of viruses (the strain of the srishos virus) by hand, which takes a long time”, says Humwall, which also explains O The BSH has ordered a special equipment for such a job, but due to the current situation achieving the shipment to Kosovo will take time.
Kosovo has about 1,000 tests and expects another 7,000
Health Minister Mirsad Shkretta's adviser, speaking of Radio Free Europe, said tests for COVID-19, bought by private companies have come from Germany, England and the United States.
Under the law, the Ministry of Health has no right to buy tests, if a pharmaceutical company does not have representation in Kosovo.
This implies that the state of Kosovo does not contract directly with world companies, but with local pharmaceutical companies representing their drugs registered in Kosovo.
We as the Ministry of Health open public competitions for local pharmaceutical companies. Those operators or pharmaceutical companies operating in Kosovo offer us the product based on recommendations coming from the Institute of Public Health. We currently have 1,000 tests on stock, $7,000 are on the way, and we're waiting for the next few days to sign another contract for another 10,000 tests. All these tests come from England, Germany and America”, Shretta said.
The directory said that Kosovo has no capacity to produce tests on its own, though it acknowledges that this issue has never been discussed within the institution it works.
For as much knowledge as we have, Kosovo does not have such capacities. Someone may surprise us perhaps for the best, but so far we have no information that anyone can do that”, he said.
By contrast, in the absence of tests for the new coronary, as the whole world is looking for them, many countries have begun producing within their territory through private companies. Their production costs a lot and can only make large companies that produce tests to identify other viruses.
The biggest problem remains the accuracy of those tests. Entering them into the market takes a long time of testing and controlling by governments.
Much of the tests produced in China and distributed in several countries, including the U.S., are said to have been false and there is the danger that tested persons may be in COVID-19, the disease caused by the new coronary, even though the test has proved negative.
O BSH recommends as many tests as possible
Valbon Krasniqi, a nigologist who works at the Infectious Clinic of the University Clinical Centre of Kosovo, said that no lack of tests in Kosovo has been felt so far.
He added that any request of the Infectious Clinic for Tests was conducted by the National Public Health Institute (IKSHP).
The “Patients who come with symptoms of illness at the Infectious Clinic in Pristina, they lie at the clinic, and each is tested within the day by IKSHP. Tests on the ground are conducted by the IKSHP depending on the Anamnesia they take on allegations of COVID-19”, Krasniqi said.
The ongoing and large testing is seen as one of the most efficient ways to prevent the spread of the new coronary.
O alone The BSH has come up with a recommendation from the beginning of the virus' spread, to run continuous tests. Until the discovery of the vaccine, Western developed countries are focusing on mass testing to keep the situation under control.
