Bill and Melinda Gates have sharply criticised US President Donald Trump's decision concerning the break-up of funding to the World Health Organization, saying their foundation will donate an additional $150m to assist the organisation in the fight against Covid-19.
The total amount given by Gates now amounts to 250m dollars.
In an interview with ABC News, Gates has admitted that he hopes Trump will change his mind because the global health system needs US assistance,
“is a global problem. This institution unites nations and cherishes sharing experiences between countries in the best way. There will be plenty of time to see which countries have worked well in this regard, which has failed, and where WHO had to react differently.
We must now simply strongly support O The BSH in the fight against David-19”, Gates said.
After the United States, the Gates Foundation is WHO's largest funder.
