President Emmanuel Macro has announced today an extension of a month in France's nationwide stalemate until May 11th.
He accepted the sacrifices already made, but said France must go further to save lives.
The blockade began on 17 March and was renewed for the first time two weeks later, Kosovo priss broadcasts.
“The period after May 11th will see a gradual easing of the” restrictions, Macron said, adding that the measures will continue in many areas of life until summer at least.
In his speech, the French president paid tribute to efforts made by people throughout the country, but said more should be done.
“We must continue our efforts and continue to follow the rules. The more they are respected, the more we will save lives. That is why the strictest deadlock must continue until Monday 11 May. During this period it is the only way to effectively act”, he said.
