Dr Nabarro has expressed himself to Observer: Not necessarily a safe and effective vaccine can be developed against any virus. Some viruses are very difficult when it comes to developing vaccines.
So for a predictable future, we will have to find ways to continue our lives with this virus as a constant threat.
This means isolating those who show signs of illness and also those who have had contact with them. Older people will have to protect themselves. Moreover, hospital capacity for handling cases will have to be ensured. This is going to be a new “normal for all of us.
Researchers worldwide are working desperately to develop an advanced vaccine.
But a senior Oxford University professor warned that it is not safe to produce a vaccine.
