Recep Tayip Erdoğan, the country's president, announced a police hour that limits people under the age of 20 from their homes, except in cases of necessary needs.
He also announced a 15-day ban on the exit and entry of vehicles in 31 provinces, including Istanbul, as well as the urban centres of the capital Ankara, Izmir, Bursa and Adana.
Keeping facial masks in crowded areas, including shops, is also mandatory, the Turkish president said.
So far, Turkey has confirmed over 20,000 cases with COVID-19, while the death toll has reached 425.
