Ukraine has reported an increase in radioactive levels in limited areas around Chernobyli, the world's worst nuclear accident. This is said to have happened by forest fires.
“There is bad news: radioactivity is above normal in the fire centre,” said Yegor Firsov, head of Ukraine's ecological inspection services on Facebook.
The post also featured a video when radioactivity was shown at 16 times the highest level, writes The Guardian, renders Periscope.
The fire in question has spread to about 100 hectares of the forest, Fersov wrote further.
Kiev has mobilised two aircraft, a helicopter and about 100 firemen to fight flames, which escaped on Saturday and were distributed on 20 hectares of the forest area near the Chernobyli nuclear plant.
