Over 16 thousand unemployed apply to benefit from “Emergency Package”

The director of the Agency for Employment in the Republic of Kosovo, Drin Haraqi, said the total number of unemployed in Kosovo is 93 thousand people, but that 11 thousand of them have applied since the beginning of the measures, while 5 thousand have reapplied.

If it's the total number of those who are registered unemployed on our lists, it's 93 thousand people so far. It includes all periods, if you would like to know the exact number of how many people have applied after the start of the measures specifically the 15 number of those registered as unemployed in our offices is over 11,000, while activated by active passives there are 5 thousand for this period of time during the month of April”, he said.

The controversy until it showed who can take advantage of the 15th measure of the fiscal emergency package said that persons who have been registered as unemployed do not need to recoup, since they are already registered.

According to him, the number of those applying to benefit the 130 pay could increase in the coming days.

Employment Agency Director Drin Haraqia said all beneficiaries can register as unemployed by May 15th.

The application can be made online, as physical application has been terminated in order not to share COVID19 pandemic.

The beneficiaries to register as unemployed will have the opportunity by May 15th. Based on our data, they have three options. We've left two options now. The reason we left them is because the first opportunity is online, the second opportunity of e-mailing to the head of the employment office with basic data, and it was a physical application. We've stopped the physical application because large crowds have been created at employment offices these days. And in order to avoid spreading pandemic, we have halted the physical application”, he said.

Kosovo's government at this time of pandemic in order to help families who have no income and no employed person has approved the 15th measure, which entered the Fiscal Emergency Package and envisions monthly assistance payments worth a hundred and thirty (130) EURO for citizens with serious social conditions, reported as unemployed in the competent institution, which are not beneficiaries of any monthly access from Kosovo's budget for April, May and June, worth up to threem euros.
