The most unusual reasons Italians have used to leave home

According to the quarantine rules in Italy, anyone who wants to leave their home must complete a form that shows the reason for being outside and must present it before law enforcement when required.

Under a government decree, many people leave home to buy food, work and walk their dog among a limited group of activities.

The virus has sickened about 101,739 people in Italy, including 11,591 deaths, most of each country, according to Johns Hopkins University.

Efforts to avoid the law have resulted in some clever excuses. The following is a small list of excuses presented in the police.

Love

A man from Acilia, in southern Rome, said that he was trying to convince his fiancée again to join after several hours of contact break. He wrote only the word "lover," when asked about reason from the police.

Gatherings

A man in his 20s wrote in his form that he was going to a friend's house to dine, a clear violation of government policy for gatherings. Meanwhile, two women lied and said that they were visiting an old, sick aunt. After some research, Aunty was a healthy woman for about 40 years.

Smoking

A man traveling from Forum to Rome, a car 30 miles [30 km] south, said he would buy cigarettes.

Bazaar

Two men said they were going shopping, only to find out they were selling drugs in the country.

Wine

In Padua, northern Italy, a man whom police banned said he had the impression that wine was considered a necessity and was seeking to buy a bottle.

Walk the dog

The English - language news site The Local reported that some people were using their pets on walks trying to stay out. The site reported several people walking their animals up to five times a day.

A mayor said he stopped a man running with his dog.
