Turkish expert Ahmet Zeki Isık said there is no difference between pregnant women and other people when it comes to the risk of infection, as well as the disease caused by the virus.
The chairman of the Association of Reproductive Health and Infertility in Turkey (TSRM), Ahmet Zeki Işık, said that the coronary does not harm babies in the womb, especially in late stages of pregnancy.
Işık pointed out that discussions on the impact of the virus on pregnant women and their babies are continuing amid the global pandemic of Coronobris.
So far we've had nine confirmed cases of pregnant women. Everyone had a successful birth. A patient suffered severe pneumonia and was sent to the Intensive Care Department. She also gave birth to a healthy child and at the moment her condition is stable”, Işık said.
Işık said there is no difference between pregnant women and other people when it comes to the risk of infection and the disease caused by the virus.
The information we have available indicates that the virus does not go from mother to child in the womb. Hence, pregnant women should not be concerned about infants. It should be said that this applies primarily to pregnant women in the late weeks of pregnancy. We have very little information on early pregnancy cases. Our recommendation is that everyone should be as careful as”, Işık said.
Stressing that pregnancy changes nothing as far as infection and coronary disease spread, Işık said it is a disease that is dangerous for all human categories, especially the elderly and cancer patients.
There should be no mix of different groups with the coronary, though some seasonal flu can cause major problems during pregnancy. The Zika virus causes anomalies in infants, but this is not the case with the Coronavirus”, Işık said.
