The latest reporting by a Syria International Investigation Commission was focused on events from July 29th 2019 until January of this year, and in particular after attacks by “pro-government forces” on civil targets such as health houses, which pushed 700 thousand civilians from their homes.
The commission was focused on two incidents in which it found substantial evidence that the Russian aircraft had been directly involved in the shelling of civilian areas, writes The Guardian, translates Periscopi.
The panel in the past has suggested that Russia be responsible for war crimes, but this is the first time it has found evidence of Moscow's guilt.
The first incident was a series of air raids at a market in Maʹarrat al-Nouʹman, a very populated area 33 km from Idlib, July 22nd.
The commission described the attack in question as a double air strike, in which a second wave of shelling hit the same target when rescue teams had arrived at the scene.
43 civilians, of them four children, were killed and at least 109 were injured.
The second investigated attack was that of the 16 August bombings and where 20 people were killed, of them eight women and six children, and 40 others were injured. /Periscope
