Following the Kosovo Government's decision to lift the 100% fee for raw materials for products from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, at the customs point in Merdare, about 150 trucks of raw materials from these two countries have been introduced.
At this point the customs station was shown that from the moment this decision has entered into force from March 20th to today, 146 first - class cargo trucks have been introduced.
Arsim Ibrahimi, chief of the shift to Merdare crossing point, declared for The KP, that the government's decision is being implemented but that there is no large flow of goods or raw materials from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
He pointed out that all trucks passing through this point are being checked and that they have not faced any problems. The government of the Republic of Kosovo's government -- at the point where the Merdare crossing -- has entered 146 trucks, which have had first materials of origin from Serbia... Trucks are all implementing the reform rules of applicable laws in the Republic of Kosovo, so they first submit to police checks, then customs and medical... We have not faced any problems since there is no movement of vehicles and individuals, even those who move, come in an organized manner and submit to strict controls”, Ibrahim said.
According to the executive decision from Friday's midnight between March 20th and 21st, six quota points between Kosovo and Serbia have been opened to implement the government's decision to lift the fee for importing raw materials from this country. On April 1st, Kosovo's government is expected to issue another decision on the total removal of tariffs to imports from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
