Kosovo's corrective service, requiring understanding from all, announces public opinion, the families of prisoners and prisoners, that because of preventive measures around Coronavirus (COVID – 19), with the Kosovo Government's decision from today, on March 12, 2020, by March 27, 2020, all family visits to all corrective institutions and detention institutions are interrupted.
During this time period the SHKK will take these measures:
Prisoners will be allowed frequent phone calls with family and virtual communication through Skype, which is currently installed in some correctional centers and very quickly across all centers;
Prison transfers forbidden for prisoners;
Reducing transport to courts and prosecutors, (only in very emergency cases);
Continued staff checks by doctors who are already in corrective and detention centres;
Continued control of prisoners, who have an infectious symptom;
Prison supplies for prisoners with hygienic material, such as: Shampon, soap and disinfectant for hands;
Hot water supplies 24 hours inside prisons.
The Kosovo Correcting Service will continue institutional co-ordination with relevant institutions of the Republic of Kosovo and will keep the broad opinion about the ongoing steps.
