A new study published in the journal on Infectious Diseases, the Lancet, has concluded that combining measures such as quarantine, closing schools, and working from home is the most effective way to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
China is the only country that has undertaken the most massive quarantine in human history.
Wuhan's province, where the virus first appeared, has been quarantined since January 23rd and will likely leave homes on April 8th.
Along with other provinces, the total number of people isolated in quarantine reached 50 million.
Why isolation is the best protection from COVID-19
Researchers have analyzed all defense scenarios from quarantine, isolation, and school closure, or home work for at least 50 percent of the workforce.
The combination of these three measures lowers the spread rate by 78 to 99 percent.
The best defense option for the virus is quarantine, school closure and housework.
If people enter quarantine for several hours and continue to go to school or work, this approach is by no means effective.
According to experts, people worldwide must remain completely isolated at home for at least 30 days.
“Prill must be erased from the calendar, otherwise we will never get out of this pandemic,” Carlos Del Rio of Emory University in the United States, follows the agroweb.
