Elshani: Minister Vitita risked Podujevo citizens

CEC member of the PDK ranks Arian Elshani has held Minister of Health Arben Vitita responsible, who gave no recommendation to the CEC for steps they should follow for extraordinary positions in Podujevo. Elshani has written on his Facebook page that the Kurti Government and the Arben Vitita Health Minister had allowed elections in Podujevo by recommending just a few additional measures, for which according to Elshani they must take responsibility, which is now known that many citizens from Italy had come to Kosovo and are now resulting in coronus infection.
Arian Elshan's complete statement:
We have been informed in Kosovo for weeks by nongovernmental sources concerning the COVID-19 virus and the situation created in Asia and Europe.
Such contributions are welcome, but nothing replaces state institutions, which should be leaders in extraordinary situations. However, the Kosovo government and Minister Vitita continued to remain indifferent to coronavirus and did not carry out their duties over time.
Government apathy over the virus that is jeopardising many states and populations was broken only after O The BSH called it Coved19 Pandem.
On February 7th 2020, the election date was set in Podujevo, while many of our fellow countrymen continued entry into Kosovo. Some also had a destination for Podujevo.
Meanwhile, neither Minister Vitita nor any other government sector took any precautions for identification and testing.
As the CEC, we have asked for recommendations on the elections that were scheduled to be held yesterday in Podujevo. The recommendation came three days before holding elections.
In an extraordinary world situation, Mr. Secretary. The year recommended that elections in Podujevo be held with some additional security elements.
At a time when institutional mobilization is required to prevent the spread of the virus, Kurti Government found comfort in giving the green light for elections that expose tens of thousands of citizens to the virus.
At a time when quarantine must be the most popular practice, Kurti Government makes policies that create conditions for spreading the virus to humans. As an illustration, 487 persons from Italy (some of them in Podujevo) have entered Kosovo from February 27th.
Unattended by the critical situation Saturday at noon, the idea of holding elections in Podujevo continued, despite the risk that the consequences of elections could be great for spreading the virus.
Fortunately, media pressure and civil panic led Kurti Government out of a deep sleep of incompatibility and at 15:57 on March 14th, after first affected by the virus came the next recommendation, where the Health Ministry requires suspension of the elections.
Fortunately, the president suspended the elections, but many campaign gatherings in Podujevo, attended by thousands of citizens.
These collections could stop in time if we had a government to know about its role and responsibility.
However, citizens should know that from delays in response, from neglect, from Kurti government's inability to navigate itself and from fear of taking leadership in times of crisis, the virus appears to have also affected the citizens of Podujevo who participated in the campaign.
Now every action is action on the consequences, on the irresponsibly neglect to preventative measures, the story of Podujevo, is a concrete example of the government's institutional irresponsability to the COVID19 virus.
It's not an opposition-pot issue, it's a responsibility for transparency.
