During the past year alone, drivers paid over 10m euros in fines

Over a thousand and 200 tickets were pronounced by Kosovo police in the last 24 hours. And as a result of disrespecting signs of communication, 17 people sought medical help.

Meanwhile, 37 other accidents ended in material damage. Meanwhile, just last week, police have pronounced nearly 3 thousand traffic tickets.

The number of tickets had been pronounced throughout the past year. According to a response by the Kosovo Police for Television 7, only during 2019 have it pronounced close to half a million tickets. Meanwhile, mostly Kosovars in traffic were fined as a result of disrespecting limited speed.

From the total number of ticketing declared for 2019, of 445,729, the most frequent types of counterinference have been:

• 40.9 % failure to comply with limited speed,

• 14.8 % irregular parking,

• 9.7, %,

• 5.4 %s

• Other offenses at lower rates.

Even the amount the drivers paid for such wrongdoing was quite large.

Within the past year alone, according to a response from the Ministry of Finance and Transfers, drivers paid over 10m and 500 thousand euros.

According to data from the Integrated Kosovo Finance Management System (SIMFK), in 2019 the amount of income from traffic fines has been a total of 10,520,651.83 Euro.

In this response, it is also known that under the Law of Finance on Local Powers, the 18 fines pronounced for traffic violations are the own income of municipalities.

While the aloation of these tools has been done every month by Kosovo Police in the respective municipalities.
