Commission for Agriculture Seeks Government a Framework of Work Plan

Opposition members on the commission called on the new government to create a draft for planning the work of this commission in the future.

Chairman Lieburn Aliu proposed the idea of visiting ministries that are under the supervision of the Commission for Agriculture to get acquainted with the framework of the processing plan, which will serve as a mirror for the commission's work.

Until we have this legislative programme of government, I would have proposed that during this period we make two visits to the two ministries that are in our field of action -- the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development and the Ministry of Environment and Infrastructure -- to ask us to introduce to us the complete scope of the ministry's work and the bills planned to be submitted, or that have remained in half, and what are their plans. Thus, we will have a clear mirror for all agencies within the ministry and their competencies so that we can have better ideas about how to act”, Aliu said.

Lieburn Aliu's proposal did not find support by PDK deputy Evgeni Thaci, who demanded that ministers themselves be the ones to come to the commission to meet with his members and then to realise visits to the respective ministries.

It is true that we as a assembly do not yet plan government programmes. We've said it and we repeat it, but it doesn't prevent us from having the commission's work plan. I ask you as chairman and chairman with the help of other organizations with which the assembly cooperates, to present the commission's work plan... You asked that we have visits to the ministry, but I think that's not an idea that I can support because the ministers are the ones who should come to this” commission, Thaci said.

Even AAK deputy Rasim Selmanaj said it is not good practice for commissions to go to the ministry, but vice versa.

I think two visits are in interest for the commission and would have helped us to work more quickly on a draft work programme for a good initiative, then to wait for the legislative agenda. I think that two visits, if this is the last one for us to go to the new minister, let them come here because it's a rule and we're going to work, it doesn't bother me to start going, but as a matter of mayor, I don't think it's okay”, Selmanaj said.
