So on March 17, 2004, riots began that were later very much talked about as the March “Troubles”.
These riots began after two Albanian children in the northern part of Mitrovica drowned in the Iber River.
Some children who survived in the late hours that night showed in front of the cameras that they had been chased by Serbs and fled to safety, two children had lost their lives in the river.
During these riots, 19 people were killed, of whom there were 12 Albanians.
