Older than where he serves: Read 6 facts About the American Army

Of course, in the era of the nuclear bomb, opening up a conflict between great powers would be crazy and would question the fate of our own planet, but this has not prevented many countries from spending the largest portion of budgets on the military.

Below the Metro newspaper gives you six facts you didn't know about the American Army:

1. The U.S. Army is older than the country it serves.

Americans celebrate their nation's birthday on 4 July. But the army is actually America's big brother. This makes sense when we consider these facts; the continental army of 1775 led by George Washington (who would later be the first president of America) began to retain the British Army so that Thomas Jefferson could have time and space to write (the declaration of independence).

2. If the United States Army were a city, it would be the largest city in the United States.

Only one million soldiers serve in the army, half of that figure is active and are full - time ministers, while the rest are the reserve of the National Guard and the Reserve Army. To put it in a clearer perspective; a city full of soldiers would be bigger than San Jose, California; Austin, Texas; Jacksonville, Florida; and San Francisco.

3. The U.S. Army is the second, largest employer in the country.

With 2.2 million people paid, Walmart is the biggest employer in America. But the Army takes the second one in this ranking.

And the budget cuts to be made will cut the number of soldiers in 2015, but even with these cuts will still remain second, as Yum Brands holds third place with 523,000 employed.

4. The U.S. Army spends approximately 3.8 billion liters of fuel each year

Like any large organization that needs energy to carry out its operations, the American Army needs fuel, even fuel. An actual army document showed that the U.S. Army spent about 80 liters of fuel a day for a soldier.

5. Most US presidents have served in the military.

Of the total number of presidents that the United States has had, 31 of them have served in the military, 24 of them have served at the National Guard, even though this is not a condition but President Washington had started this tradition, which was later followed by many other presidents.

6. Marines, Soldiers, and Air Force

According to figures published by the American Army, five garrisons currently have about 29,000 soldiers. This includes the Böblingen-based “Crpus Marine of Europe and Africa” in southwest Germany.

In addition, about 9600 US Air Force soldiers are stationed in various countries in Germany, such as the two US Air Force bases, Ramstein and Spongdahlem.
