At least seven people have died and five others were injured Sunday, in the eastern part of Turkey, when a powerful earthquake registered at the border with Iran, authorities said.
Dries from a 5.7-magnitude earthquake based in north-west Iran were also felt in Turkey's Van province.
Several buildings were damaged and many people are trapped under rubble, Turkish Interior Minister Sulejman Soylu said at a press conference, AA reports, conveys news.net.
He added that search and rescue teams have been sent to the earthquake-hit region.
We remember that a powerful earthquake struck eastern Turkey earlier this year, causing 41 people to die and wounding 1,600 others.
