Palestinian leader denounced Donald Trump's plan to UN

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas called on the UN Security Council not to accept the peace proposal presented by President Donald Trump, while leaving open the possibility for negotiations with Israel. I stand before you in the name of 13 million Palestinians to seek fair peace. [...]
I stand before you in the name of 13 million Palestinians to seek fair peace. Ladies and gentlemen, I am here to reaffirm the positions of Palestinians who reject the Israeli-American proposal. ”
In a 35-minute speech to the Security Council hall, Mr. Abbas expressed his anger over the territory proposed for a future Palestinian state under Mr. Trump's proposal.
This plan will not bring peace or stability to the region. So we will not accept this plan. We'll resist his application. This is the summary of the project that was presented to us. This is the state they'll give us. Look how flawed it is”
Under the plan, Palestinians will double “the territory”, but must provide a third of the West Coast for Israel to have a border to the west. In return, President Trump's administration proposed that Palestinians take two separate territories in the Nagev desert. The plan envisions determining that the eastern part of Jerusalem will be the capital of the proposed Palestinian state, the VoA conveys.
Mr. Abbas said the Palestinians rejected the proposal, as he fully leans on Israel, not giving them a sovereign state, with unbroken territory, resolving the issue of Palestinian refugees.
This agreement is not an international partnership. This is the proposal of a state, supported by another country, which seeks to impose the world on creating international legitimacy. ”
Palestinian leader added that America could no longer be the only mediator in the Middle East, while calling for an international conference that would revive the four-member group in which the United States, Russia, the European Union and the United Nations participate.
Israeli Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon accused Mr. Abbas of being insincere and even stumbling to a final agreement.
Mr. President, let's not go around. As long as President Abbas remains in his post there will be no progress towards peace, that is reality. Israel and Palestinians will advance only when he leaves. A leader who chooses rejection, which promotes and deified terror can never become a true partner for peace. ”
US Ambassador to the UN Kelly Craft named Mr. Abbas' statement as a wild <x0-retoric” saying that parties should stop mutually accusing and start talking to each other.
I would stress, primarily for those expressing concerns, that the plan offers something deeply significant to the Palestinian people: a realistic perspective for this current politicians to manage to see their own lives a Palestinian state self-government and fully recognised. The plan acknowledges that a political solution to the conflict is not enough to ensure that the Palestinian people have all the necessary opportunities to thrive. ”
Other Security Council members were skeptical. Some expressed concern that internationally agreed parameters were being put aside and unilateral actions were taking.
Palestinians had initially sought the 15-member council's vote for a draft resolution reaffirming international parameters for conflict resolution and calling for a solution of two states based on the pre- 1967 borders. But following objections and amendments from the United States, as well as changes from Britain, the vote was postponed.
