But microbiologist Dr. Manal Mohammed, in Great Britain, says that there is little evidence that surgical masks can prevent contracting the virus. According to him, the virus is distributed by spray by infected people who can travel several feet, so masks have limited effect.

But masks that have air filters can have a greater effect on preventing the virus. The popular FFP masks are divided into several categories, and the FFP1 is the lowest level, while the FFP3 is the most advanced to keep out almost 99 percent of the pollutants in the air, including viruses.
