In the case of Kosovo's 12th anniversary of independence, Vjosa Osmani, chief parliament and Albin Kurti, prime minister, visited today the Kosovo Security Force at Kazerma “Adem Jashari” in Pristina.
Parliament Speaker Vjosa Osmani said on this particular day she has the honour and satisfaction on behalf of the Kosovo Assembly to address the Kosovo Army, which is synonymous with citizenship and defence.
In this barracks that bears the name of Adam Jashar, the example of sacrifice and independence we enjoy today, the will is brought forward because we have our army and our state. You are the greatest supporters of peace. Today I want to tell you that you have sacrificed as soon as you put your uniform on. There is no greater sacrifice than to fight for the country and for its own good. Our forces will be consolidated as the interactive force with NATO military forces”, Osmani said, adding that they will work without fail to make Kosovo a safe place, as well as NATO membership remains the country's strategic goal.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Albin Kurti spoke of his idea of military service.
The task that you do with commitment and love, your uniform is to embody national sacrifice. You've made citizens proud and praised the country for what you've done in Albania. We will make military service mandatory because we need experiences in military service. We are not doing military service to rule because we have never conquered foreign lands, but every time we will protect every corner of our country”, he said.
Similarly, Kurti said the government's priority remains NATO and EU membership.
