Iran's military commander, Qasem Solejmani, who was killed last month in a fearful United States attack, has made efforts to bring stability to the Middle East, Iran's president, Hassan Rohan, said on Monday.
“Commander Solejmani has been a person who followed stability and tranquillity in the region”, Rohan said in a televised speech.
Soliman led Iran's elite Kurdish force.
The United States has killed him on 3 January, in Baghdad, saying he has planned attacks on Americans.
If Commander Solejmani wanted to kill American generals, it would have been very, very easy in Afghanistan, Iraq and any other country. He never did that”, Rohan said, follows.
These comments also echoed the head of Iran's Nuclear Agency, Ali Akbar Saleh, who said Solejman's assassination by the United States has weakened the fight against the Islamic state militant group (IS) in the region.
The US “Administrator has not yet understood reality on the ground”, Saleh said at a meeting of the International Nuclear Energy Agency in Vienna.
He said Solejmani has been the most important <x0-element in the fight against Islamic State”.
In response to Soliman's murder, Iran has attacked two US military bases in Iraq, but without causing casualties.
