Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Gent Cakaj attended the meeting of foreign ministers of the Visegrad countries (V4) and the Western Balkans, which took place in Prague.
At the meeting once again, support from the Visegrad countries for the European perspective of the Western Balkans was repeated, as well as support for the opening of Albania's membership negotiations in the European Union broadcasts news.
In a Facebook response, Cakaj stressed that at the meetings, he outlined two key issues regarding the region.
First, the top diplomat stopped at the importance of opening negotiations for Albania's membership in the European Union.
Albania, as the European Commission has confirmed so far, has met all conditions necessary to begin membership talks. Adopting new methodology has created a new political moment within the European Union, which is to be exploited anyway. ”- Cakaj said.
Second, Cakaj stressed the necessity of visa liberalisation with the Republic of Kosovo, as Kosovo has met all conditions necessary to ensure free movement. So any delay he feels would be unfair.
Also, I underlined that the Kosovo- Serbia should not end up with anything less than mutual recognition.” Cakaj concluded his reaction.
