The treatment of persons infected with coronarys, with blood Plasma of persons healed by this virus, is expected to begin soon in Kosovo.
Infectian Sali Ahmeti is the leader of the working group for drafting the protocol to use covalescent plasma, in patients with COVID-19 (the disease causing the new coronary). He told Radio Free Europe that on the basis of meetings they have held, it will soon begin, first the donor collection, that is, the blood of those cured by COVID-19, and apply to those infected with the new coronobrist.
The “Criteries and protocol procedures will be launched in detail and as soon as possible. As a procedure is not easy, as indicators should be established about which patient we should treat with blood plasma because not everyone can handle this kind of therapy”, he said.
However, Ahmeti adds that blood plasma treatment has not been seen with many benefits, though in many countries of the world that this form of treatment is already being applied.
But what's the benefit of all this work, let's see it. Application options are under consideration”, Ahmeti said.
This type of treatment is done by taking blood plasma from patients cured by coronary patients because their blood has antibodies fighting the virus.
Transfusion of antibodies creates what is known as the Passive “immunity” to touch COVID-19.
The Kosovo Health Ministry has announced on October 28th that it has formed a working group aimed at drafting the protocol for using covalescent plasma for patients with the new coronary.
Kosovo Health Ministry spokesman Faik Hoti says it is a step towards empowering management and comprehensive treatment of coronary infection.
Given the importance of better control of the epidemiology situation with COVID-19 and the importance of the most comprehensive clinical treatment of patients with this infection, the SSH expects the working group to draft this protocol as quickly as possible, to pave the way for this form of treatment of patients in Kosovo hospitals”, Hoti said.
Many countries, including the United States, are treating patients with COVID-19 with the blood plasma of patients cured of the disease.
Teuta Kamberi, a nurse by profession, has recovered from COVID-19. She says that she is willing to give blood as she begins to apply as a method.
I'm willing to contribute, so to help either family or someone else. Coronavirus, I was infected early in August. However, I still have antibodies based on the serological test I've done recently, and if I need my plasma to serve for the treatment of a patient, however, that I would do”, she told Radio Free Europe.
Infectian Lindita Ayzaj-Berisha told Radio Free Europe that blood plasma is used on the basis of indicators and criteria set out by the World Health Organization.
We use blood plasma in the Infectious Clinic in patients for certain types of diseases. For COVIDD-19 we haven't yet applied, but that's already determined on the basis of WHO indicators, which we will use in that form”, she said.
Meanwhile, the director of blood transfusion, Beauty Zhubi, has said that as an institution, they are ready and professionally prepared to become such a method.
We don't have anything concrete for application. We're working on this”, she said.
However, researchers and collaborators of the prestigious American Mayo Clinic in June have found that the healing plasma is safe for use in patients with COVIED-19, and that it is likely to reduce the mortality of the coronary. This study was conducted in the 20,000 patients who accepted the plasma.
Meanwhile, the World Health Organization has warned for caution regarding blood plasma treatment, since it has said that this treatment is of a weak “quality”.
In Kosovo, treatment for people infected with coronarys is continuing to be a support therapy and includes giving various vitamins, Ogeniorapies, and antipiretic and analgenetic drugs.
