The 1908 Monastery's <x0); Congress of the Monastery of 1908, with Fish, Mjeda, Zavalan, Kyrias and other renowned intellectuals of the time, permanently unified the Albanian letter, living the current dream of generations for a single alphabet of Albanian”, Hoti wrote.
The monastery congress took place between 14-22 November 1908 and attended 50 delegates from 26 different cities, clubs and associations. In this convention, the decision was adopted to accept the Latin alphabet with several changes of letters adapting it to Albanian.
Congress Speaker Mithat Frasher was elected, while vice-chairmen were Luigj Gurakuqi and George Kyriaz, while his sister Parashivi Kyrizi was the only woman in this Congress.
According to the number and importance of participants, the Monastery Congress has been the most important event of the Albanian people in the early 20th century, where as a result of this work on 28th Albania's independence was declared November 1912.
For the Albanians of Northern Macedonia this day is a holiday and not a working day, while the Albanian Alphabet Museum, in which there are about 56 photos of participants and 230 digital-shaped documents and on paper, operates in the History Museum.
