The confession of the woman who struck her husband 11 times with an axe: He sexually abused our son

Susan Zogiani-Sekiraqa, on September 21, 2018, in the town of Dole, France, has ended the violence and mistreatment of husband Artan Sekiraqa, striking him 11 times with ax around his neck. She says the murder was committed in a state of deep shock, as she saw the deceased abuse [...]

I never imagined that I would experience something like this... If someone else had done it, I might have been able to accept it somehow. But to make the man with whom I tied my life, I gave him two children, I sacrificed so much that I could help him even when his family gave up on him... What I felt was my hate”, says Susan Zogiani Sekiqa

A dirges broke Susan's sleep. The apartment was small, and two children slept in the living room. He slowly opened the door to see if their dreams were disturbing a “monster”. He saw that the boy was not in bed, and the girl was asleep.

The voices he heard moved him to the bathroom, where light was shed at the door. He opened the door slowly. The scene he saw shocked him. Their legs broke, and air could not be satisfied. All he wanted was to run away, disappear somewhere, anywhere.

He took his shoes, and as he was in his night garment, he ran through the front door. He turned the key twice, and as soon as he pulled up the rezé (the doreza) and tried to get out, he felt his hand grasping the hair and pulling it in. “Where do you want to go, where you're always going or (in police v.j).

Their views were crucified and for a few seconds they remained watching without speaking a word. They told each other everything with their eyes. That shock and wonder how he had strayed so far, that fear and anger that had been captured by committing a terrible act of abuse on the first fruit of their love.

Dragging him for his hair, he lowered him to chairs near the kitchen table. Susan broke out on charges, insults, screams. Anthony began to punch him from where he arrived, as he had done for years. When he breathed well over it, he pleaded for forgiveness. She asked him to hold him tight. In fear, Susan threw her hands around her neck and said that she had forgiven him. But she couldn't hold him.

How could I shake the man who confronted me with the worst feeling in the world? I never imagined that I would experience such a thing... If someone else had done it, I might have been able to accept it somehow. But to make the man with whom I bound my life, I gave him two children, I sacrificed so much that I could help him even when his family gave up... all I felt was my hatred”, Susan confessed on October one day, and tears rolled over his cheeks without stopping.

The tears did not stop that night on September 20, 2018. She tearfully soaked her pillow until she fell asleep, which did not last her more than two hours, lying near her husband. He woke up the chatter of the room door and saw Anthony come near with a axe. Are you normal? He kicked his ass in the genitals, and he leaned on the pain. He reached out and took the axe and struck it in his hands, causing it to cut into both hands. Anthony got up and the fight started. “I tried to get away because I saw that it wouldn't hold me off. I was scared for my life. I know I hit him once again in the box and he fell down on the floor. The rest I don't remember, I wasn't myself anymore, I was numb”, Susan says.

In those moments of mental shock, his first thought was to leave home. Because they were doing repairs at the apartment for what reason it was even bought the axe she carried some of the clothes in her suitcase. But the only things she put into her purse were her passports and her children's.

I've been shocked, my hands were shaking, I barely wrote down my GPS address. I didn't even think about taking gold ornaments. I wanted to leave as soon as possible, to take my children to my mother in Kosovo. What would happen to me I didn't even think of”, Susan says.

She told the kids that they were going to Grandma's because something really bad happened. But the boy knew what had happened.

I know what happened. I totally saw it, but I'm done sleeping. I'm afraid he's coming, and he's doing something to us. I covered your sister's head with jigan”, the boy told her. Three days and three nights, Susan had been driving until she arrived at her family in Pristina.

Five Years of Violence, Drugs, and Abuse

The dream and other ambitions for himself and the family were 35-year-old from Pristina, Susan Zogiani-Sekiraqa, when she arrived in France with her son in 2010. Anthony joined them three months later. Susan tried to learn French through courses at the academic level and at the same time continued her studies of psychology at the university. She was married at the age of 19, and her dreams of continuing her schooling had remained in half. The first three years of life in France for the Sekiraca couple were honeymoons they did not have in Kosovo, the cause of problems with Anthony's family.

Two weeks after birth, their son had had an accident. Anthony's sister had hit him for the floor. The consequences of the crash for the boy were severe.

He had a brain tumor and had been subjected to two surgical interventions. His condition had improved, but Susan and Anthony's problems with his family had not improved. They were among the reasons they had migrated to France illegally.

But the family elite died just before the girl was born. Anthony suddenly began to change his ways. He contacted a group of drug traffickers (Arabs, Algerians, and so on) and also consumed drugs. She also returned to the business of thieves from youth in Kosovo, which Susan found right after marriage.

In the face of the drug crisis, Anthony became violent both at home and in public. Violence spared neither children. Although he knew his son's sensitive state of health, he also hit him in the head, where intraceral pumps had been placed on him during surgery.

Because of violence and with the goal of keeping Anthony out of the drug - dealing network, Susan was forced to change residence addresses often. The quietness of the Sekiraqa family was only during periods when Anthony received drug therapy. When he stopped, the violence on his children and Susan grew. On one occasion, he was stabbed, another with the gun he was told was bought by an Italian.

His mate's nervous attacks, followed by violent actions, forced Susan to report him to the police frequently. Anthony did not respect the order of the court that prevented him from approaching Susan and the children. He followed them and watched them everywhere.

We just dated the kids in the park and got into the car. He grabbed my throat with two hands, and I almost got tired. Fortunately, two policemen passed by, and when they identified us, they told him that he broke his order and was imprisoned. The boy told the police that they are heroes that they saved Mom”, relates the serious event.

Her husband's violence and problems led her into depression, and she began treatment. Her experiences did not tell the family in Kosovo. He kept hoping that Anthony would turn his life around and that they would one day return to normality.

The French organisation, where Susan has sought help, consists of social workers who help women victims of domestic violence. One of the employees has agreed to talk about “Kahen” about the Susan case. But she has refused to make public either her name or the organisation. She said Mrs. Zogiani- Sekiraqa has sought help with them in 2013 and 2014 and has told them about the violence her husband is exercising against her.

It described that violence as various: psychological, physical, economic and administrative. It described in detail the insults, constant criticism, intense control and surveillance, shame, denigration, threats, money deprivation, destruction of personal things and documents, brutal and brutal withdrawals, knife threat, hair-tightling, flame and fists. The reports of violence, Mrs. Zogiani-Sekiraqa, were always made of tears and trembling. She told us that their son was always present when her husband became violent, and that the boy too was a direct victim of the violence of the husband”, the social worker in France said in an answer sent to “Koha” via electronics.

In July 2018, the Court of Lyons sentenced Anthony to parole. For two years he would be under police surveillance and escorts. At the trial, Anthony apologized for his actions and promised to receive the therapy and take care of his family. Susan gave him another chance. I said hello to the kids, because I wanted them to grow up with both parents, say Susan.

But Anthony did not improve. He lied that he was going to psychiatrics and became increasingly aggressive. Although Susan tried to persuade him to return to the right path, he continued to consume and sell drugs, to eat up other illegal jobs, such as counterfeiting passports. Anthony's physical violence against Susana would peak on September 3, 2018, when she would hit him with strong instruments and blow him to the head for the hour of the wall and bleed from the glass.

Susan couldn't bear all that violence anymore. Her life and her children were in danger. She decided to get divorced. But divorce would not succeed the way he thought.

11 Ax attack

Residents of the 39A building at “Grande Rue”, in the town of Dole east of France, where the Sequiqa family lived for three months, were shocked by the tragedy. But they were not even surprised, for Anthony was arrogant even with his neighbors. The gentleman who lived up there has spoken to all the neighbors and has threatened the neighbors that if you're not pleased with me, I'll behead you, like when you cut him off.

After Susan's escape from her apartment in the attic, no one came in or out. On September 29, 2018, the owner of the rented residence knocked on the door, but no one opened it. Heavy smell was coming from there. When the police forced the door into one of the rooms, a serious crime scene awaited him. The blood walls and a decomposing male body, bent down with the head tied to his body only a thin layer of flesh and skin.

Susan says that she cannot remember how many times she was stabbed by her husband, but she is said to have been hit 11 times by an autopsy of French forensics.

Five days after arriving in Kosovo, Susan had surrendered to the French Embassy in Pristina and had told them the story. He asked to be sent back to France. But extradition did not become possible. According to French authorities, since Susan was in her homeland, she should be tried there. From October 5th, 2018, she is held in the Women's Prison in Lipjan. The interview for “Kah” is carried out there.

To avoid possible conflict between Zogiani and Sekiraqa families, Susan's children were taken into state custody. Because of pandemic, children have been unable to visit him for months in prison. He's homesick and suffering a lot for them. They too find it difficult to separate from their mother.

When the girl came to visit, she kissed her hands, her forehead... I haven't seen the boy in eight months. When I talk to him on the phone, he says: Mom, do you remember when I was a kid at the nursery and I took your scarf to smell like I missed you so much? And now I have to live without seeing you for months.

The court did not examine the boy, it was estimated that even “Heicko would envy Susana for her imagination”

Susan's judgment has lasted about a year. The Constitutional Court in Pristina has found him guilty of the criminal murder and has convicted him of 25 years in prison. The Court of Appeals has confirmed the act of first degree. Susan considers her sentence unfair, and there are many remarks about how her case has been handled. No one has ever taken a chance to analyze my case in the deep and clear the truth and the circumstances that led me to killing”, she says.

The court has partially assessed the boy's testimony, taking into account only his statements on bad reports between parents and the violence his father has dealt with his mother. He has dismissed his father's statements of sexual abuse. The court has named Susan's statements fabricated.

“The claim of the accused Susan has acted in a state of severe mental shock from the other perspective - that if the abuse of the deceased with her child absolutely does not stand, because such a state of fact has not been proven by any personal and material evidence, and where even the minor himself, who during giving the witness, among other things, has stressed that he has been sleeping, has not heard anything about having a grave sleep, since the accused himself of telling such a peaceful event, if with the abuse of minors, that even Hikfrek, English director Hitchk, would have been envious of building that situation, and then he's got an imaginary statement.

The boy has been interrogated by a social worker, and no physical or psychiatric examination has been taken. Susan wrote letters to the court asking that the children be examined and that the third be treated by psychologists. Her request was not taken into account.

Kosovo Women's Network Organisation ( S. The GK has monitored several cases of domestic violence that have ended with murder. That includes Susan. This organization has noted that in cases where the killer is a man, court sentences are lower than in cases of women committing murder as a result of violence.

Adelina Berisha, programme manager for gender-based violence at RGK, has said Susan Zogiani- Sekiraqa has been a victim for years of the now-dead violence of her ex-husband and that she has done the work to defend herself. No human in the world reasons murder, but even in the judicial system, there is a difference when it is carried out in self-defence from a work carried out with planning and strategy behind, as are the cases we've had in Kosovo”. She has taken for example the case of Peter Nd Neckey, who has planned to go to the home of his wife's parents and kill her and their daughter. “Sic we know Rudett was reduced to punishment, which has not happened in Mrs. Susan's case. If we compare them, the sentence of Mrs. Susan is heavier than Rudet”, Berisha has said.

Susan will not stop the battle in search of justice. Its case is now in the hands of the Supreme Court, which is expected to decide on the request for protection of legitimacy, with which the defence has sought to annul the decision of the First Court and the Court of Appeals and return the case to the retrial. Through its extraordinary legal means, the defence claims that the pending convictions are involved with substantial violations of criminal procedure provisions and violations of the criminal Law.

As you await the Supreme decision, Susan spends her time in prison painting. Mostly flowers. It holds out hope that the day of union with children will not be too far away.

At the conclusion of the interview, before returning to his cell, Susan came across her left - hand coat with Anthony's stilt name. There are two small hearts next to the letter “

This tattoo was his wish, and I gave it to”, she says. Amid tears of despair over the serious situation in which a violent love was brought to Susan, the dilemma follows whether she might have been the best choice to meet her husband, as she says, and the last wish. Maybe I should have said: Take my life, except you enjoy it.
