Group A is more likely to be infected; How true, experts speak
A team of Chinese scientists has conducted a new study in recent days, trying to detect the link between the blood type and the risk of suffering from the virus that has locked up an entire globe, reports “Class”.
The study takes little time until it is published, however, the finds so far show that there is such a connection, broadcasts news.net.
Blood type A and virus
To conduct the study, experts examined blood groups among 2,173 individuals admitted to the hospital after infection with COVID-19.
Each of these individuals was laid down in various hospitals.
The analysis revealed that a large number of people with blood type A were hospitalised as a result of COVID-19 infection.
“People who have blood type A are significantly more endangered by COVID-19, compared to other groups”, - the co-author of the study, Jiao Zhao, broadcasts news.net.
“People who have blood type 0, have a significantly lower risk of this” infection, - he added.
Experts note, however, that the danger they refer to is that of being admitted to the hospital as a result of infection, and not simply infection or contracting COVID-19.
For this advice, experts argue that only people who have been sick enough to be admitted to the hospital and not others who have gone through it or those who have been quarantined broadcast news.net.
Should People Fear Blood Type A?
Sacthi Vaiyapuri, an expert at the University of Reading in the United Kingdom, points out that people who have blood type Should not fear the first findings of the research mentioned above.
“The data for achieving this hypothesis is insufficient to state completely that there is a strong link between the blood type and the likelihood of getting sick by COVID-19”, he says.
For achieving this conclusion, many parameters must be analysed, so these findings have arguments that are not supported by the scientific community”,- Vaiyapuri added.
According to him, the Chinese experts' findings may simply be random and that the current situation is very unclear.
