Several people have been injured after a shooting incident near a synagogue in Austria's capital, Vienna.
The Austrian news agency APA quoted the country's Interior Ministry as saying one assailant had been killed and another could be on the run.
Police said the operation in the centre of the city was continuing and urged people to avoid all open spaces and public transportation.
“There are several people injured,” police wrote on Twitter.
“We are on the ground with all forces available. Please avoid all public squares in town”.
Early reports that a synagogue was the target of an attack could not be immediately confirmed.
The video distributed in Titter from the upstairs buildings shows two people hiding behind a wall before running to another location while gun shots can be heard. The lights of a police vehicle can be seen in a distance.
Another video shows a man dressed in white fire with a gun along a road before leaving.
The Witnesses told the Australian edition Kronen Zeitung that there were at least 50 shots fired “.
