Democratic Party of Kosovo Chairman Kadri Veselini has visited the “Esnaf” association, representing the city's businesses.
At a meeting attended by over 30 representatives of the Presidential Business, Chairman Wessel spoke of the serious economic situation the country is going through and ways in which businesses and the private sector should be assisted during this difficult time of pandemic.
Wessel said that the Democratic Party of Kosovo's proposals to get the country out of this serious situation are concrete, but the government's stubbornness is making it endanger the survival of hundreds of businesses and the job site of thousands of workers.
“Faji is fully Government, which over six months has not been able to pass an economic recovery package. We're not a block party. On the contrary, from here, in front of you honoured entrepreneurs, I once again extend an invitation to the government to meet the Economic Odays and consider the opposition's proposals. If we have a meeting in the weekend, on Monday we can vote on the package of economic recovery. Only co-operation is needed, for the sake of the country and for the sake of Kosovo citizens. “, Chairman Vessel said.
Among other things, Chairman Wessel has talked about the pension trust and the possibility of citizens withdrawing their money from that fund.
The government has manipulated with citizens' feelings, especially the poorest layer, putting money back from the trust into another large package from which no one benefits. We've proposed that we make the necessary changes to the law on pension funds and besides to restore the money attracted within a five-year period, to classify citizens' layers, where the lower layer could attract up to 20 percent of their savings“, he added.
Association Chairman “Esnaf”, Varis Jalan, thanked President Wessel for his great support and concrete proposals on how to help businesses in this difficult time of pandemic.
He said businesses are in a difficult situation and asked the government and institutions to be co-operating with all political actors so that the assistance for entrepreneurs is faster and larger.
