Jokaj was arrested openly during his transit journey across Serbia's territory.
Through an MPJD media communiqué has called on Brussels and the Quinteen states to address this concern to authorities in Belgrade.
“The MPJD calls for Serbia's immediate release of Agim Jokaj as well as of Nezir Mehmetaj, who is continuing to be held unjustly in custody now for ten months. We also stress that the alleged charges against them are groundless, deliberate, and politically motivated. The MPJD calls on Brussels and the Quint Group states to address this concern to authorities in Belgrade, which once and for all be banned from such an illegal practice, the groundless ban of Kosovo citizens who pass transit on Serbia's territory. Such behaviour is contrary to basic human rights, the agreement on free movement reached in Brussels in 2011, and in full opposition to the spirit of Washington's Economic Normalisation Agreement”, the communiqué says.
