This commission's decision came after a dispute between two candidates over the form of debate. The commission had earlier announced that the second debate would be virtually held due to the contamination of the Trump with the coronavirus. However, the head of the White House did not accept this form of debate, while Biden described it as a safer way.
However, the commission said it would not reverse the decision, citing lack of care and health concerns, especially in the debate held in the hall, writes The Guardian.
The “is now clear that there will be no debate on October 15th, and the Commission will turn its attention to preparations for the final debate, which is scheduled for October 22nd”, the Commission's Declaration on Presidential Debate said.
Despite coronavirus diagnosis, the US president announced he would appear in public soon, including holding a speech at the White House on Saturday and an election rally in Florida on Monday.
During his speech at the White House, he is expected to talk about rule of order and law. This time, he will speak from the White House balcony and is expected to be farther away.
