Minister Zemaj indicated that the situation in Kosovo with COVID-19, in the past seven months, was difficult, but as he currently said, the situation is calm and under control.

He said that even though the situation is calm the measures recommended by the Kosovo National Public Health Institute ( IKKPK and Health Ministry (MSH) should be respected.

Seven difficult months. Treatment of an unknown virus. Seven months of unknown virus that has swept the globe. Unfortunately, Kosovo was not immune to this. Three months of isolation, three months living with the virus but living life, enabling the share of economic and social development in the capacity of monitoring and realisation of the measures. Unfortunately, June was new to us. MSH found an uncontrolled opening. July was difficult, in late July we took measures and established their implementation dynamics. August was huge, and early September found us in another situation. We now have a relatively quiet pandemic situation, and the number has almost gone down, whether of the infected or of the most fatal. Currently, the situation is stable, we are demanding that this alert and dynamic be conveyed. The measures should be respected and this is the situation”, Zemaj has said.

Minister Zemaj has also talked about the functioning of the education system in pandemic times. He said preparing for the start of the school year was in common with the NSH, the K.S. and Government.

He stressed that guides, protocols, and instruction in schools have been drafted.

Fortunately, all preparation undertaken before the start of the school year is producing positive results.

“The recommendations are being forwarded daily by the IKSHPK. Testing for pre-school teachers, testing that is continuing where it is being investigated that there may be cases of infection distribution. Fortunately, this two weeks is leading to a positive outcome. This is the job of teachers, this is the job of parents and students and all of us to preserve and develop”, said the minister of Zemaj.

He said that even though preparations are on the level, in some schools he has been forced to take measures, as he said there are cases with COVID-19.

And even though you know it's half-time, where I've had to take some measures to get some schools to a class level of C, because of some cases that have resulted from COVID-19. If we go with this dynamic and with that care we can walk away. As the infection arises, I am obliged by law to take action. That's why it goes from one system to the next”, he said further.

That calm, according to the minister, is enabling plans and their strategies to quickly prepare for the next, autumn and winter phase for preventing COVID-19 infection.

The autumn and winter phase is much more prepared for us, in building infrastructure, human capacities, testing, vaccination, and many other things that can help preserve the health of our citizens”, Minister Zemaj said among other things.
