The purpose of this transport is to employ staff in preparing food so that there is no need to fire them.
The airline, under Finnish state control, said that in the first period, testing, meals “prepared by hand” -- called “Finnair” -- will be offered in only one self-service from Thursday.
The company's deputy chairman, “Finair Kitchen”, Marika Niminen, said the airline's hotel service is trying to expand beyond traditional passenger food services since spring.
“Finair” sent a large part of its 7,000 employees on forced vacation and its traffic dropped 91% in September compared to the same month last year.
Since many kitchen employees were sent with forced permission, we can now hire for something new,” said Nimin.
