Ehat Miftaraj from the Kosovo Democratic Institute (IKD) has said the withdrawal of the US Embassy (SHBA) from the process of monitoring the election of new members to the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council, as well as the election of chief prosecutors, is a woe to the justice system.
“After both Amaziah was withdrawn, just days after the Progress Report was released by the European Commission shows the politicisation of this sysitem, showed that this system does not provide justice and that a problem has been created for Kosovo”.
“Today a way of attracting the Embassy gave the stamp that the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council (KPK) even in 2020 is old policies and processes of knowing who will be the new KPK member”.
This action of the Embassy has given the point to what we like the Kosovo Institute for Justice, but many nongovernmental organisations have said that the justice system in the country has slipped into a seized state, where institutions that should guarantee the rights and freedoms of citizens return to their greatest violators”.
Miftaraj has said the prosecutorial system in Kosovo has become a seized system.
There are two paths, we like the IKD say, to return legitimacy to the KKP must withdraw from positions they now hold Alexander Lumezi, chief state prosecutor, deputy head prosecutor, Sevdije Motina, KPK leader Bahri Hyseni and KKP deputy leader Arben Ismajli<1>.
“They must withdraw completely from the prosecutorial system in Kosovo, as for five years as these lead the Kosovo prosecutorial system has become a seized system, which is unable to exercise competencies on the basis of responsibilities belonging to”.
“If these four acts do not back down, most will have consequences for Kosovo's citizens, since year after year they are disappointed and are victims of these people because they do not exercise their powers against organised crime and corruption we are the only country that does not have visa liberalisation, we are alone that the Progress Report turns out we have the least results and we are the last country in terms of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement, and we are the last country in the Balkans in terms of European integration”, Miftar said in the special Kosovo edition.
