It is the story of Isra Altayah, a Jordanian girl who suffered from severe joint pain, loss of consciousness, and other serious symptoms, for no apparent reason at an early age.
Her story's been running international media.
No doctor was able to understand the origin of her illness. Until she was 18, she started studying medicine and diagnosed her own disease, writes Huffingtonpost.
Not finding solutions despite medical examinations conducted even abroad, Isra began studying medical texts and eventually found herself suffering from the Ehlers Danlos (EDS) syndrome, a rare disease that affects an estimated 20,000 people in the world.
Pathology is linked to tissue and involves symptoms that range from joint, skin, and digestive problems. The same disorders that my daughter suffered when she was ten years old. There is no specific cure for this situation at present.
For her stomach problems, doctors had to equip her with a feeding tube tied to her thin intestine.
I've got special food and medicine for my state of America and other things to reduce key problems. Now I have hope, now I can start thinking about the future like girls my age. I know it's still going to take time for treatment, but I'm out of the dark”, said Isra, sharing her experience with social networks.
