Diabetes, high pressure, asthma, 75% invalid: This is Hysni Gucati's state of health.

KLA Veterans' Chairman Hysni Gucati was arrested by EULEX on September 25th at veterans' offices in Pristina, where another raid took place that day. The same day, Gucati was transferred to the detention facility of Kosovo's Specialised Chambers in The Hague. Gucati, on October 1st, appeared at the session [...]

Gucati, on October 1st, was presented at the first trial hearing before the Special Tribunal, where his defender Jonathan Elusan Rees has sought bail from his client. He said that Gucati has health problems, he suffers from diabetes, high blood pressure, and asthma.

Until even Gucati himself during his first appearance at the Court has shown that he is disabled in the war at 75% degree.

As for his current state of health, Gucati's lawyer, who was present at the session, Valon Hasani, has said he is well in health.

His condition is stable, I talked to him yesterday”, Hasani said.

Hasani said the date has not yet been set for the next session. He said the verdict on the legality of Gucati's arrest is expected these days and on bail demand.

“Ende is not set any date. We still don't know, we wait these days to make decisions on the legality of the arrest, and as far as our request is concerned, no” decision has been made, Hasani said.

He also added that there is no information about preparing the indictment, except what the Specialised Prosecutor has said at the first court hearing that within 30 days they will file an indictment against Gucat.

““Specialised Procurory intends to hand over the indictment within a 30-day period of”, prosecutor Valeria Bolic had said.

Among other things, lawyer Reese had said that if his client was granted bail, they would provide a guarantee of 5 thousand euros for Gucati to live at a certain address in Kosovo and report to EULEX police.

But, the Specialised Prosecutor's Office had said that the remnant in Gucati's custody is necessary because “ka motive” that he could “mangett justice”, but also repeat the deeds he allegedly performed.

The decision on whether Gucati will be released on parole these days is expected.
